Can I leave with my friend?

Candidates for Code II or Code III may be sure that they will not be separated during the program. That doesn’t put you 100% together in the same housing - there are strict rules in some of the states, but you will be together in place and in the most of the cases in one company. Sometimes it is possible for 5-6 students to receive offers in one place, but we can not guarantee that. What we can promise to you, is that we will do our best!

How much and in what way will I get paid?

The payment depends on the position and the state. In some states the payment is lower and so are the expenses: Alabama, Tenesy etc. the payment depends on the special benefits that you may receive of the company too /free food, housing, transport, etc./ the students participating in the program take about 7-7,5S per hour. If you receive an offer of a restaurant and your occupation is to service the customers- the payment may be around 2,13-3 S per hour / you will get tips /. The payment is in paycheck that you can cash immediately or deposit on a bank account.

Do I have to pass all of my exams before leaving?

Before the visa interview you have to pass 1-2 exams of the summer session.

What happens if they refuse to give me a visa?

If that happens we will return you the program fee except the fee for the sponsor organization. It is important to know that the American government approves this program. That provides the program very good visa rating. The reasons for the refusals may be in the candidate interview for visa or incorrect and fictive documents.

How much does the airplane ticket cost?

It is a round-trip plane ticket to the USA. According to the state and the month of your travel the price of the ticket varies between 450-600 Euro including the airport fees. For your comfort and for perfect organization “Polycontact” is arranging the airplane tickets and you will travel with the students of the same organization. The price doesn’t depend only on the Airplane Company, the month is very important. The sooner you get your ticket the less you will pay for it. The summer months are very busy and it is hard and more expensive to get a ticket. For that reason we recommend that you plan your participation in the program and leave as soon as possible.

How much do I need to take for pocket money?

The American organizations recommend you to take about 500S for the first two weeks and for the travel expenses to the place of your company.

Where will I live?

When you receive an offer you will get information about the housing in USA. Some companies make the arrangements for the housing of their students, but not all of them do. If you have to find housing you may sign in a hostel for a few nights. The hostels are hotels for young people with very good prices. The cheapest hostels in New York are 20-30 USD per evening. If you wonder where to spend the night you can ask the employees in the local supermarkets. If you look for housing you can check the local papers- the real estate rubrics. Usually you can find there apartments with different size, quality and price. The price may vary between 200 –350 S and more. In most of the cases to rent an apartment you have to sign a contract. Before signing you have to be sure that you understand all the points in it and what does the price include. It is a practice in USA to pay “damage deposit” with the first rent. You will receive this deposit in the moment of your departure if the apartment is in the same order of your lodging. In most of the cases the price of the apartment depends on the period of your occupation – the longer the period –the less money you pay. You may notice that the locals pay lower rents than the tourists: in most of the cases their lodging period is not less than a year. The apartments in USA are rented with no furniture unlike in Bulgaria. The lodger may use the services of firms lending furniture. You can find their coordinates in the local papers or in the yellow pages. Very important thing to know is that you have to follow the “neighborhood rules”. To avoid troubles you have to know the noise and party limits, etc.

Is there a time limit for participation?
