For many Student Exchange Program participants, the highlight of a trip to the U.S. is the opportunity to visit America’s most popular cities and sights. Below is a list of the most frequently visited places in the USA.

  1. New York, NY – When most people think of the USA they think of New York City. This is the largest city in the country and is famous for being a world center of business and finance, fashion and style, and culture and diversity. Famous city sights include The Statue of Liberty – the symbol of freedom in America, Wall Street, the world’s financial capital, Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Metropolitan Museum, Natural History Museum, Central Park – an oasis in New York, Madame Tussauds Wax Figures Museum, The imposing Empire State Building, is famous for its tale of construction, and is lit with different colors every night.
  2. Washington, DC – The American capital is famous for its fascinating architecture and museums. The most interesting museum for Bulgarian students is The National Air and Space Museum. Other popular landmarks are The White House, The Capitol and The Washington Monument.
  3. Las Vegas, NV – The city of casinos and neon lights draws millions of people looking for luck and fortune.
  4. LA & Hollywood, CA – The movie industry capital and the filming location for many of America’s most famous movie productions.
  5. Chicago, IL - One of the most preferred cities for Bulgarians. Chicago is also known for its modern architecture and is the home of The Sears Tower, the tallest building in the USA.
  6. New Orleans, LA – A city famous for its Creole culture and French influence. New Orleans is a great place to enjoy delicious cuisine, see beautiful Victorian style architecture, and experience great jazz music.
  7. Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL - Children experience heaven on earth and the elderly feel like children again! One of the U.S.’s most popular amusement and theme parks.
  8. Niagara falls – The enormous and impressive Niagara Falls is located on the Canadian border. It is a famous place for Americans to spend their honeymoons.
  9. Miami Beach, FL – A beach for non-stop entertainment. Summer temperatures can be very hot, but it’s a great place to visit!
  10. The Grand Canyon, AZ – This awe-inspiring canyon is both a natural phenomenon and a huge tourist attraction.
